Many companies are stepping up and "going green." Some are doing more than others, but every little bit counts. Here's a company that has not only developed their business model based on an eco-friendly idea -- reselling used books -- but is going the extra step to promote green living with their b(eco)me green campaign.
I was more than excited when I walked out of Half Price Books with an inexpensive handful of books (no bad of course!) and a free calendar for the new year. To my delight, the little green calendar not only had great coupons, but was filled with tips, facts and cost benefits on b(eco)ming green. Pretty cool! While they are promoting their green campaign here and are offering gift cards made of corn instead of plastic, it seems they could be doing more. As a marketer, they have taken the first step: coming up with the campaign. Now they need to promote it, spread the word and get people psyched about it. Until they figure out how, you can download the free PDF of Green Tips per their website, and help spread the word yourself. It's actually a great resource for tiny efforts that make a huge difference. Definitely worth a look. Their mission is to "help spread knowledge about how each individual can help impact the health of our environment through everyday choices." Some of these actions are just too easy not to do!
I hope you'll not only check them out, but also think about supporting other companies that are taking a stand for the environment and helping reduce their carbon footprint. This was another note-worthy site linked from b(eco)me green's page. Enjoy!
